In the Waiting Room
(Please note, this is a longer post than usual.) When I was young and became sick, I remember that my mother would bundle me up and drive me across town to the office of our family doctor—a white-haired GP who dispensed medicine from a one-man office, with the assistance of just one receptionist and one nurse. I don’t remember my mother ever calling ahead to make an appointment, we just showed up, put our names on a list, and then waited our turn to see the doctor. What I remember most vividly, though, is that the waiting room was always packed with people, and every visit required a wait…

God’s Strange Work of Judgment
I suppose that most of us have, at some point in our lives, heard the saying, “The more things change, the more they remain the same.” Although Solomon said as much thousands of years ago in Ecclesiastes 1:9-10… That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us… …this particular expression has been attributed to French critic, novelist, and journalist, Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr who, during his lifetime from 1808 to 1890, lived through many decades of…

The Coming Harvest
Over the past several years, there have been a number of prophetic words given concerning an upcoming spiritual revival, one that promises to usher in the Third Great Awakening in America and produce a world-wide, billion-soul harvest for the Kingdom of God. Not surprisingly, the immediate responses from those on the receiving end of these words have been universal and enthusiastic exclamations of Hallelujah, Praise the Lord, and Amen—in other words, “It’s about time—bring it on!” And yet, as much as we may long to see this take place, as people living in twenty-first century urbanized America, we have no idea what such a harvest might look like or…

While They Were Sleeping…
Admittedly, it has been quite a while since I posted anything new of real substance here—the last two such items being Smoke and Mirrors in July 2020, and A Line and a Net in January 2021. In the former, given at the height of the pandemic and in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the ensuing riots, I warned the Church not to be misled by those events, as they were simply diversionary tactics of the devil designed to foster more division and strife in both the nation and the Church, disrupt the 2020 elections and usher in the globalists’ agenda, while camouflaging just how far Satan’s kingdom…

A Pause and a Cause for Worship
In light of the revival that has taken place at Asbury University over the past couple of weeks, I thought it might be edifying to repost what I wrote about worship nearly ten years ago in a post entitled A Pause and a Cause for Worship. Here it is… After each of our visits, I like to take a little time to ponder what we have been talking about so that I can try to decide where we should go in our next discussion. As a goal-oriented person, I usually have a very good idea of where that is and just how to go about getting there; but, as is…
